Final Payment Dates by Cruise Line

When final payment falls for Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity, taken from each line's own terms, and why that date decides a price drop.

Your final payment date is the day your booking stops being flexible, and on most lines it is also the last day a lower fare can come back to you as money. Each cruise line sets it differently, and some publish a fixed schedule while others only put it on your confirmation.

Checked on each line's own website on Sep 23, 2026. Group bookings follow different schedules on Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. The date on your booking confirmation always wins over this table.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean publishes a schedule by sailing length: 75 days before sailing for 1 to 4 nights, 90 days for 5 to 14 nights and 120 days for 15 nights or longer. It says the same schedule applies to holiday sailings between Christmas and New Year's, and that group bookings have their own schedule.

Until that date, the Best Price Guarantee lets you ask for the lower fare on the same sailing and room type. If you have already paid in full, Royal Caribbean says it refunds the difference. After final payment, the remedy becomes a possible cabin upgrade when a higher category is priced at or below what you paid, subject to availability.

Norwegian

Norwegian's terms list final payment at 120 days before sailing for sailings departing from August 15, 2022 onward, for both 1 to 6 day and 7 day or longer cruises, for holiday sailings and for The Haven and suite categories. Norwegian also states that reservations not paid in full by the final payment date are subject to cancellation.

Norwegian's remedy for a lower fare varies by region, fare type and booking channel, and is at its discretion. The Norwegian policy page has the detail.

Carnival

Carnival's ticket contract does not print a single day count for final payment, so the date to trust is the one on your booking. What the contract does publish is the cancellation schedule: for 2 to 5 day cruises, losing your deposit starts at 75 days before sailing, and for 6 day or longer cruises and all Alaska, Europe, transatlantic and Panama Canal cruises it starts at 90 days.

Carnival is also the exception on timing. Its Early Saver price protection runs until 2 business days before sailing, as a lower fare if the booking is not yet paid in full, or non-refundable onboard credit once it is. Super Saver, Fun Saver, Pack & Go and Flash Sale fares are excluded. The Carnival policy page covers the rest.

Celebrity

Celebrity's FAQ says you are told your balance due date when you book, and that booking inside the final payment period means paying in full at once. It does not publish one schedule for every sailing, so check your confirmation or your Guest Account.

Before that date, Celebrity's Best Price Guarantee reprices your booking to the lower fare, with a refund if you have paid in full. After it, a complimentary upgrade may be available when a higher category is priced at or below what you paid, subject to availability. Claims go through 1-888-751-7804 or your travel partner.

Why the date matters for price drops

A fare drop is only worth what the line will give you for it, and on three of the four lines above that answer changes on your final payment date. Before it, a drop can be claimed as money. After it, the best case is usually an upgrade or onboard credit, and cancelling to rebook means paying penalties.

That is why the date belongs in your calendar, and why the week before it is the most valuable time to check your fare. The final payment date guide explains what changes when it passes, and how to reprice a cruise covers the claim itself.

CruiseSignal watches your exact sailing and shows the countdown to your final payment date on every tracked booking, so a drop found in time can still become money back.
