You booked a Celebrity cruise and the same stateroom is now cheaper on celebritycruises.com. Celebrity does not reprice bookings on its own and does not tell you when the fare falls. Its Best Price Guarantee gives you a way to ask, and what you can get depends almost entirely on one date: final payment.
This guide covers what to do once you have found the lower fare. The rules and exclusions are on the Celebrity price protection page.
What the Best Price Guarantee covers
Celebrity's terms let you request that your booking be repriced to the current better fare, including any applicable promotion, available on a Celebrity-owned channel, which means its website or call center. The fare has to be for the same ship, sail date and stateroom category you booked.
Two details decide whether a lower number on screen counts:
- Deposit type. If you booked a refundable deposit fare, you can request the lower fare of either deposit type. If you booked a non-refundable deposit fare, you can only request a lower non-refundable fare.
- The price at processing time. The repriced fare is the one listed when Celebrity approves and processes the request, not when you first saw it. A fare that goes back up before your request is handled may not be matched.
Celebrity also says certain promotions are excluded, as stated in each offer's own terms.
Before final payment: reprice and get the difference
Celebrity says you can submit a request any time before your final payment due date, or within 24 hours of booking. Before final payment, you can receive a complimentary stateroom upgrade or a price adjustment. If you have already paid in full, Celebrity issues a refund of the difference. If you have not, your balance goes down.
This is the window that pays in money, so it is the one to watch. Your final payment date is on your booking confirmation, and our guide to the cruise final payment date explains why it decides most claims.
After final payment: an upgrade, if one is available
If final payment has passed but you booked within the last 24 hours, the same options apply: an upgrade, or a price adjustment or refund.
If you booked more than 24 hours ago, Celebrity says you may be eligible for a complimentary stateroom upgrade based on availability. It applies only when a higher category is priced equal to or less than what you paid for your current cabin. So a Celebrity price drop after final payment is worth checking one category up: if the veranda above yours now costs what you paid, you have something to ask for. Our guide to cruise price drops after final payment compares this with the other lines.
How to claim, step by step
- Gather your booking details. Booking number, ship, sail date, stateroom category code, number of guests and whether you booked a refundable or non-refundable deposit fare.
- Price the same booking on celebritycruises.com. Match ship, date, category and guests. Screenshot the fare with the promotion shown alongside it.
- Check where you are against final payment. Before it, you are asking for a price adjustment. After it, you are asking about an upgrade to a higher category.
- Request the review. Celebrity says to call 1-888-751-7804, or go through your travel partner. If a travel agent made the booking, start with the agent; our travel agent price drop guide covers how that works.
- Check the result. Look at your updated invoice or balance afterwards, and note who handled the request.
Celebrity reserves the right to change or end the Best Price Guarantee at any time, so read the current page before you call. Whether a request is approved is Celebrity's decision.
Why checking by hand misses drops
Celebrity fares move often after booking, and the ones worth claiming tend to come and go. How often Celebrity fares fall and by how much is on the Celebrity price data page, measured on the fares we track.
Because the repriced fare is the one listed when Celebrity processes your request, timing matters as much as noticing. Celebrity price drop alerts from CruiseSignal, an iPhone and web app for US and Canada residents, watch your exact sailing and category and tell you the amount and your deadline when the fare falls, so you can call while the lower fare is still there. CruiseSignal is independent and not affiliated with Celebrity Cruises.
