A stateroom category is the short code on your booking confirmation identifying exactly which type of cabin you have: 8G, 4A, OS and so on. It is more specific than the cabin class.
A single ship can have a dozen balcony categories that differ by deck, location and view, and they are priced differently. This is the field that trips up price drop claims most often: a lower price on a different balcony category is not a match, even on the same ship and sail date.
Look for the two-character code on your booking summary, not your stateroom number.
