Cruise price data: what fares do after you book
On Norwegian, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, 21% or more of the fares we track later fell by $500 or more on a cabin for two. On Norwegian, one drop in ten was worth more than $1,300. Measured on 798,690 fares and 8,573,004 recorded prices.

The same measurement applied to every line: the share of fares that later fell by $200 and by $500 or more on a cabin for two, and how big the largest drops ran.

What the numbers say
The lines do not behave alike. 34.8% of the 98,858 Norwegian fares we track later fell by $500 or more on a cabin for two. One in ten of the price drops we recorded on the 499,712 Carnival fares we track was worth more than $312 on a cabin for two.
That spread matters more than any average. On an active line, the fare you booked is more likely than not to be beaten before you sail. On a quiet one, a drop is a smaller chance you cannot afford to miss.
